Were numbers discovered or invented?

Or is math just a human-created system that happens to correspond with natural laws and structures? There is no definitive answer to this question, but mathematicians tend to side with one of several compelling theories.

First, there is the Platonic theory. Greek philosopher Plato argued that math is a discoverable system that underlines the structure of the universe. In other words, the universe is made of math and the more we understand this vast interplay of numbers, the more we can understand nature itself. To put it more bluntly, mathematics exists independent of humans — that it was here before we evolved and will continue on long after we’re extinct.

orbitThe opposing argument, therefore, is that math is a man-made tool — an abstraction free of time and space that merely corresponds with the universe. Just consider elliptical planetary orbits. While such an elliptical trajectory provides astronomers with a close approximation of the planet’s movement, it’s not a perfect one (source: Dehaene).

Several theories expand on this idea.

  • The logistic theory, for instance, holds that math is an extension of human reasoning and logic.
  • The intuitionistic theory defines math as a system of purely mental constructs that are internally consistent.
  • The formalist theory argues that mathematics boils down to the manipulation of man-made symbols. In other words, these theories propose that math is a kind of analogy that draws a line between concepts and real events.
  • The fictionalist theory, while less popular, even goes so far as to equate mathematics with fairy tales: scientifically useful fictions. In other words, 1 + 1 = 2 might enable us to understand how the universe works, but it isn’t a “true” statement.

A quick way to arrive at a single-digit summation (the digital root) is simply to take the value modulo 9, substituting a 0 result with 9 itself. Casting out nines is a quick way of testing the calculations of sums, differences, products, and quotients of integers, known as long ago as the 12th Century.

The Temple of Osiris at Abydos, Egypt contains the oldest to date example. it is carved in granite and may possibly represent the Eye of Ra, a symbol of the authority of the pharaoh. Other examples can be found in Phoenician, Assyrian, Indian, Asian, Middle Eastern, and medieval art.

What is sacred geometry? 

The synchronicity of the universe is determined by certain mathematical constants which express themselves in the form of ‘patterns’ and ‘cycles’ in nature.

The word ‘Geo-metry‘ comes from the Greek words Geos meaning ‘Earth’ and Metron meaning ‘To measure‘, which together literally translate as the ‘Measuring of the earth’ or ‘Earthly measurements’, an art which was traditionally restricted to the priest-hood.

While Chaldean Numerology is considered to be more accurate, it’s less popular. This is because the Chaldean Numerology system is not as easy to master, and the alphabet values are not in as systematic an order as the Pythagorean Numerology system for example. The name, when ana­lyzed under Chaldean Numerology, gives a more occult or meta­physical flavor to the destiny that’s interwoven into the person’s character. Metaphysics is a traditional branch of philosophy concerned with explaining the fundamental nature of being and the world that encompasses it, Chaldean Numerology indicates the hidden forces or invisible strings at play behind the scenes.

The Chaldean Numerology method also differs in that it goes by the name you’re most known by. As a sample person we use Jane Doe , first and last name, as is preferred under Chaldean Numerology analysis.

As you see, this name under Chaldean Numerology adds up to a 1.

After the name, the birth number the day of the month on which you were born is considered to be the next most important factor in Chaldean Numerology.

If you add up the digits of a number until there is only one number left you have found what is called the digital root and used by the ancients called numerology and used as a shortcut for solving certain math equations by organizing numbers. In other words, the sum of the digits of a number is called its digital root IE. 216 (2+1+6=9) method of adding numbers in mathematics. There can be only one.

Use this ancient method to get understanding and understanding why this happens is the key. Numbers govern the universe and help create reality, form, and symmetry, which we are attracted to and use for subconscious control of the mind because our consciousness is attracted to form and stimulation. Note: The #9 is considered to be the highest vibration of the single digit numbers. Single numbers represent what a person appears to be in the eyes of others, your individuality and personality, Compound Numbers are also used These numbers 10-99 are used to indicate the Karmic Influences. Adding all the numbers, of his first and last name together and you see that his first name Jesus totals #18/9 (which is reduced to) #9, his last name also totals to the #18/9 (which is reduced to) #9, adding 9 plus 9 which totals #18/9 (reduced to) #9. The #9 is his Vibration Number, #9 meaning “The Alpha and The Omega.” As is said in the Bible, Jesus came down to earth as a man from the Heavens, he was a teacher, prophet, humanitarian, and the one who takes away the sins of the World. An explanation of Chaldean Numerology and Number Theory.

All numbers, whether found under the Chaldean system or the Pythagorean system have basically the same meanings, symbols, nature, and character. This seems to be the universal rule of all number systems.

However, under the Chaldean Numerology system, it isn’t enough to know what the single numbers mean. One must also know what the “compound,” or “double,” numbers mean is well. The single Chaldean Numerology number simply represents the physcal outward appearance of a person’s name, whereas the compound Chaldean Numerology number represents the deeper, metaphysical, hidden influences or forces behind the name.

Although the name is reduced to a single num­ber, the name also has three compound numbers—two digits in the first name, two digits in the middle name, and two digits in the last name.

Once the physical (single number) and metaphysical (compound number) aspects of your name have been determined, the next important step is your date of birth.

Your date of birth means the day of the month you were born under, for it too has its own occult symbology and significance. So, Jane Doe, born on the 1st day of January, would also be considered a number 2 per­son under this system. Your date of birth is extremely important because it is unchangeable and therefore a constant, like the needle pointing north on a compass. A person may undergo a series of name changes over the years because of marriage, adoption, nickname, etc, but the birth date remains the same.

Single numbers denote what you appear to be in the eyes of others, while the double or compound numbers show the hidden influences that play a role behind the scenes and some mysterious way often foreshadow the future.

All the numbers from 10 upwards, become compound numbers and have a meaning of their own distinct from the root number. We do not know how and in what age these compound numbers were discovered. We can only say that they appear to have always existed. The meanings ascribed to the numbers 1 to 9 belong to the physical or material side of things and compound numbers from 10 onwards belong to the more occult or spiritual side of life. Distinct symbolism has been given to the compound numbers up to that mysterious number of 52.

9 -> ‘The Beginning and the End: Alpha and Omega’

9, like 0, does not have a letter. It is the second most powerful number, and can give life and power to other numbers or letters without changing their identities. An example is 6+9 = Love + Power = 15 = Magic and Magnetism = 6 = Love. This example is extremely vague and doesn’t explain fully the characteristics of the number 6, but this method of interpretation can be used with any number. Another example of ‘Interpretational Arithmetic’ is found later on in this help facility.

10. Double-digit numbers in general: ‘Compound Numbers’ 

All other positive integers (Cardinal Numbers) can be interpreted according to their separate digits, or added to form a single digit. Interpretation is based on opinion. You are your own person. However, the Chaldean people also have meanings that imply Karma and experiences, etc.

Pythagorian Numerology was organized by Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras, who combined the mathematical disciplines of the Arabic, Druid, Phoenician, Egyptian and Essene sciences.
Since then, it has continued to evolve. It formed the spiritual basis for many secret societies, such as the Rosicrusians, Masons, Anthroposophists and others.

Pythagoreanism originated in the 5th century BCE, based on teachings, or beliefs held by Pythagoras and his followers, the Pythagoreans, who were considerably influenced by mathematics (Pythagorean theorem), music and astronomy.
The essence of his teachings was enshrined in the axiom: “Know thyself, then thou shalt know the universe and God.”
Later revivals of Pythagorean doctrines led to what is now called Neopythagoreanism or Neoplatonism. Pythagorean ideas exercised a marked influence on Aristotle, and Plato, and through them, all of Western philosophy.

According to Philolaus, one of “the three most prominent figures in the Pythagorean tradition“: number is the “dominant and self-produced bond of the eternal continuance of things.” But number has two forms, the even and the odd, and a third, resulting from the mixture of the two, the even-odd. This third species is one itself, for it is both even and odd. One, or unity, is the essence of number, or absolute number, and so comprises these two opposite species. As absolute number it is the origin of all numbers, and so of all things. So at the foundation of everything is the part played by the limiting and limitless, which combine together in a harmony.

Chaldean and Pythagorean numerology systems are totally different from one another. Each system uses different numerological vibrations and different numerological calculation methods. Most numerologists use only Pythagorean numerology which is especially popular in the west.

NumerologyThere are nine numbers used in constructing Numerology charts. These numbers are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

Larger numbers that occur from adding the numbers in the complete birth date or from the values assigned to each name, are reduced by adding the digits together until the sum achieved is one of the core numbers. Merely add the components of the larger number together (repeatedly, if necessary) until a single digit (or the “master” numbers 11, 22 or 33) results. Each of these number represents different characteristics and expressions.

Master number are the only exception to rule of reducing to the single digit. The master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are reputedly intensified versions of the single digit number they replace (2, 4 and 6). These numbers suggest a potential for a high degree of learning and/or achievement very often in a more stressful environment. In most individuals, the master numbers operate at a much more tangible or practical level as the single digit parallel.

The even numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, (22) are Feminine  (Yin: Earth, night, moon, soft, decline, contradiction, inside, under, moist, cold, pale, peace, introvert, intuition)

*The numbers 11, 22 and 33 in a calculation are master numbers and are not reduced.
The master number 11, 22 and 13 are at its basic amplified version of the reduced numbers 2, 4 and 6. What this means is that all the traits and attributes represented by the number 2 also apply to the master number 11, the 22 to 4 ,and the 33 to 6.. However, these  traits, both positive and negative, are now amplified, so also review the content for the reduced numbers.

o TWO is the first spiritual (feeling) number. It represents the duality of humans and symbolises the gateway to our sensitivities, as well as our need to be part of a pair. It is the number of intuition.
o THREE is the first mind (thinking) number. Following the primary verbal (1) and intuitive (2) expressions comes the mental. It is the gateway to the conscious mind and to rational understanding, the focus of left-brain activity, the key to memory. The number 3 is symbolised by the triangle, representing the connection of mind, soul and body.
o FOUR is the number at the centre of the physical (doing) plane, the key to orderliness,practicality and organising. It is symbolised by the square, the basis of all practical construction.
o FIVE is the centre of the soul (feeling) plane and the very centre of the total Birth Chart. It is the spiritual number representing love and freedom of expression.

Master Number 11 is a magnified number 2 (1+1=2) “the peacemaker”, so 11/2

Indian Numerology

According to Indian Numerology, each of us has three numbers that are the most relevant:

Psychic Number :
The psychic number reveals the way you look at yourself. It is what you really want to be and what defines your basic character. It represents your basic predispositions and talents that lead you to interact daily in a particular way.

The concept of the Fadic Number If you add up all the digits which comprise your date of birth eg –

( 23/06/1955= 2+3+0+6+1+9+5+5 = 31, 3+1 = 4 ) you get the combined Fadic Number (Destiny number) .

Here in this example it is 31 . 3 plus 1 = 4. So 4 is the Fadic Number

Find out the Fadic Number of the person concerned. There are effects for both Fadic and the Combined Fadic Numbers. Once you find the Fadic Number of the person, know that that person will have the characteristics of the planet representing that Number. Personally i was quite impressed by the amount of insight, accuracy, and depth of the information that was retrieved from my personal calculation. It gives valuable insight about yourself, who you are, how you stand in life, how you see the world, your dreams, preferences, personality, goals, characteristics, qualities, quantities, challenges, past and future life cycles (fases), etc. Too accurate and elaborate to be put aside as coincidences to my opinion in my own case.

  3. The entire history of the universe for all time is represented in the number system, in an infinite ways too. Imagine the jpeg format. Every image is just a number, a number that always existed. Every jpeg photo that could ever be taken is nothing more than finding a number. Video is the same way. If you had a live stream video camera following your every move, it would be spitting out one really long number. It doesn’t matter what the photo or video format is, or what resolution you want. Every video and image is just one big number; a number that always existed. One could imagine video cameras at every possible angle of the universe, and each camera is just generating a number that could have been found and played back without the camera creating it at all.

    In fact, every possible choice a person makes, and every possible path a human could take with their life is also available as a number even though it was never lived. To me that seems really “heavy”.

    This seems to validate the concept that God knows every choice you could face in your life, and for every person in the world, those born already and yet to be born. Every human life has always been mapped out in the numbers, even before the universe actually existed. What if God is the number system, and as each person is just a number, we are made in God’s image. If God is the number system and people are numbers, we are a part of God and God is within us.

    • Can anything be part of ‘God’? Which part? Does your God have parts? You could watch an icicle dripping or steam rising, and say ‘That’s part of water.’ But it is all water. The mystics say there is only Being, endlessly changing its form. Can anything that exists even in our dreams be apart in any way from Being? All is One, symbolised by the circle. The Ancient Greek philosophers understood it. ‘Know thyself,’ they taught. ‘As a man thinketh, so is he,’ said another. Our understanding determines our reality, our individual realisation of the underlying unchanging Actuality. It makes all the difference in the world.
